Minutes of the Monthly Meeting of the Town of Webster

Board of Supervisors

July 19, 2016



1.  Call to Order:  Chair John Young called the monthly board meeting to order at 7:00 PM  with Supervisor Gordon Nemec, and Clerk Ole Yttri present.  Others in attendance were Patrolmen Tim Walker and Jody Wirts, Pam Hammond, Presenter, Lonnie Muller, Episcope newspaper, and resident Gene Lyons.  Treasurer Jan Parker and Supervisor Art Thelen were not in attendance.   


2. Pledge of Allegiance:  The Board led the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance.


3.  Proof of Posting:  Proof of proper posting of meeting and agenda was noted, (Episcope newspaper, at two posting places, on the Town website, and through email for those citizens who have signed up for email notification).


4. Adoption of Agenda: Young moved to adopt the agenda, seconded by Nemec.  Motion carried. 


5. Minutes of Previous Meetings:  The minutes of the June 21, 2016 meeting was presented.  Young moved to adopt the minutes, seconded by Nemec.  Motion carried. 


6. Review and Payment of Bills:  The current checkbook balance is $37,931.83 with the monthly bills total is $15,042.20.  Nemec moved to pay bills, seconded by Young.  Motion carried. 


7. Review Building Permits:  none

8. Fire/Road # Applications:  none


9. Presentation by Pam Hammond, Wis. Deferred Compensation Program:  Pam described the program as a retirement option for town employees and officials who are not eligible for the Wis. Retirement Program.  The employees pay the total cost of the contributions up to a maximum of their pay.  The town board has to approve through a passage of a resolution.  There appears there is an interest, a resolution will be presented at the August meeting for this purpose.


10. Review Noxious Weeds Issues within the Town:  Chairman Young reminded everyone that the weeds and thistles need to be cut and controlled as he has received complaints.


11. Discuss Repairs to the 2015 Freightliner Truck:  The truck was taken to Marshfield for an upgrade kit to reinforce the box hoist operation.  This should be a no cost item since it is still under warranty.


12.  Discuss Haugrud Hollow Rd 1st Bridge Repair Options:  The board expressed to continue to research options for the repairs that are needed. The DNR stated that two metal culverts could be placed temporary for one year to help postpone the large cost repair even though this would cost the town $40,000.


13. Review Sealcoat Road Projects for this Summer:  The board reviewed the list of the road projects est. costs.  The work should be done in August.


14. Patrolmen’s Report:  Tim stated that trees are being trimmed, pot holes are being filled, mowing continues and the JD 6410 tractor and mower were serviced.


15. Public Input:  none

16. Board Comments: none


17. Future Meeting Dates:

            August 9 Primary Election, 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM

August 16 – Monthly Board Meeting, 7:00 PM

July 28 – WTA Picnic at KVR in La Farge, 6:00 PM


18. Adjourn:  Nemec moved to adjourn, seconded by Young.  Meeting adjourned.
