Minutes of the Monthly Meeting of the Town of Webster

Board of Supervisors

May 19, 2015

 

 

1.  Call to Order:  Chair John Young called the monthly board meeting to order at 7:00 PM with Supervisor Art Thelen, Treasurer Jan Parker and Clerk Ole Yttri present.  Supervisor Gordon Nemec was absent.  A total of 13 people were in attendance.

 

2. Pledge of Allegiance:  The Board led the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

3.  Proof of Posting:  Proof of proper posting of meeting and agenda was noted, (two newspapers, at three posting places, on the Town website, and through email for those citizens who have signed up for email notification).

 

4. Adoption of Agenda: Young moved to adopt the agenda, seconded by Thelen.  Motion carried.  

 

5. Minutes of Previous Meetings:  The minutes of the April 21, 2015 meeting was presented.  Thelen moved to adopt the minutes, seconded by Young.  Motion carried. 

 

6. Review and Payment of Bills:  The current checkbook balance is $97,304.61 and the monthly bills total is $12,914.75.  Thelen made a motion to pay the current bills, seconded by Young.  Motion carried. 

 

7. Review Building Permits:  none

8. Fire/Road # Applications:  Pearl Badtke

 

9. Open Mowing Bids for Town Hall and Mt. Zion Cemetery:  Mary Haugrud sent a mail bid for the Mt. Zion Cemetery at $40 per mowing.  Lucas Nordin {8-Toes Mowing) verbally placed a bid for the Town Hall area mowing at $40 per mowing.  No other bids were received.  Young moved to accept the mowing bids that were presented, seconded by Thelen.  Motion carried. 

  

10. Discuss 2001 IH Truck Future Options:  Young stated that sales for used town truck were not very good at this time, will table this discussion till the full board can visit the options.

 

11. Review Annual Road Tour and Road Sweeper Purchase:  The board reviewed the sealcoat price estimates on the roads they looked at during the road tour last month.  They chose to wait until the June meeting when the whole board could select the roads to be worked on.  Several residents from the S. Elk Run Rd were in attendance to see what the progress was to complete their road this year with 1 or 2 layers of sealcoat. 

            The board instructed the Clerk Yttri to bid on a road sweeper that was on the Wis. Surplus Online Auction that was to end within 1 hour on May 11, 2015.  The sweeper was for sale by the Richland County Highway Dept.  The board max bid was $800 which was the winning purchase price plus additional fees for a total dollar amount of $970.60.

 

12. Patrolmen’s Report:  The patrolmen stated they have been started to do pot-hole patching, installed some road signs and built a slanted box on the pickup to assist an easier job of applying patch mix.

 

13. Public Input:  none

14. Board Comments: Young reviewed the annual salt storage reports that he had completed.

 

15. Future Meeting Dates:

 

May 26 – Open Book, 4:00 – 6:00 PM; Board of Review, 6:00 – 8:00 PM

June 16 --Monthly Board Meeting, 7:00 PM

 

16. Adjourn:  Thelen moved to adjourn, seconded by Young.  Meeting adjourned.
