Minutes of the Monthly Meeting of the Town of Webster

Board of Supervisors

March 17, 2015

 

 

1.  Call to Order:  Chair John Young called the monthly board meeting to order at 7:00 PM with Supervisor Gordie Nemec, Treasurer Jan Parker and Clerk Ole Yttri present.  Supervisor Art Thelen was not available to attend.  A total of 14 people were in attendance.

 

2. Pledge of Allegiance:  The Board led the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

3.  Proof of Posting:  Proof of proper posting of meeting and agenda was noted, (two newspapers, at three posting places, on the Town website, and through email for those citizens who have signed up for email notification).

 

4. Adoption of Agenda: Nemec moved to adopt the agenda, seconded by Young.  Motion carried. 

 

5. Minutes of Previous Meetings:  The minutes of the February 17, 2015 meeting was presented.  Nemec moved to adopt the minutes, seconded by Young.  Motion carried. 

 

6. Review and Payment of Bills:  The current checkbook balance is $77,990.06 and the monthly bills total is $6,201.20.  Young made a motion to pay the current, seconded by Nemec.  Motion carried. 

 

7. Review Building Permits:  none

8. Fire/Road # Applications:  none

 

9. Presentation of the La Farge School Upcoming Referendum by School Board Representative:  School Board members, Curt Parr and Shawn Sedwick, presented details and answered questions about the upcoming two referendums that are on the April 7 Spring Election.

 

10. Request from Adam & Jill Varney, W. Salem Ridge Road, to Install a Water Pipe Under the Road:  Item was tabled until the April meeting since the Varneys were not in attendance.

 

11. Vernon Telephone Co-op Right-of-Way Line Upgrade for 2015:  Young made a motion to approve the Right-of-Way Contract with Vantage Point, a buried cable contractor for Vernon Telephone Co-op, seconded by Nemec.  Motion carried. 

 

12. Discuss New Truck Demo from Last Week:  The board reviewed pros and cons concerning the Freightliner Truck that the employees operated.

 

13. Approve to Post Mowing Bids for April Board Meeting: Nemec moved to post bids for mowing the Town Hall/Shop and Mt. Zion Cemetery and have them opened at the April board meeting, seconded by Young.  Motion carried. 

 

14. Patrolmen’s Report:  The patrolmen stated they have been cutting trees and brushing where needed.  They met with the road salt storage inspector and were told since the sand/salt mixture is greater than 5%, all the mixed material needs to be placed under a roof structure.

 

15. Public Input:  none

16. Board Comments:  County Bridge Inspector, Phil Hewitt informed the board that the bridge on Haugrud Hollow Rd just off Hwy 82 needs to be replaced this year.

 

17. Future Meeting Dates:

 

April 7 – Spring Election Date, 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM

April 1 – Wednesday Recycling Center Opening, 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

April 17 & 18 – Spring Clean-Up Days; Friday, 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM and                                     Saturday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

April 21 -- Annual Meeting of the Town, 7:00 PM

April 21 -- Monthly Board Meeting, following Annual Meeting

 

18. Adjourn:  Nemec moved to adjourn, seconded by Young.  Meeting adjourned.
