Minutes of the Monthly Meeting of the Town of Webster

Board of Supervisors

August 16, 2011

 

 

1.  Call to Order:  Chair John Young called the monthly board meeting to order at 7:00 PM with Supervisor Linda Kennedy, Treasurer Jan Parker, and Clerk Ole Yttri present.  Supervisor Art Thelen was absent.  A total of 10 people were in attendance.

 

2. Pledge of Allegiance:  The Board led the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance in honor of the late Kermit Parker, a former town board chairman.

 

3.  Proof of Posting:  Clerk Yttri gave proof of proper posting of meeting and agenda, (two newspapers, at the three posting places, on the Town website and through email for those citizens who have signed up for email notification).

 

4. Adoption of Agenda: Young moved to adopt the agenda, seconded by Kennedy.  Motion carried. 

 

5. Minutes of Previous Meetings:  Clerk Yttri presented the minutes of the July 19, 2011 meeting.  Kennedy moved to adopt the minutes, seconded by Young.  Motion carried. 

 

6. Review and Payment of Bills:  The current checkbook balance is $39,029.69 and the monthly bills total is $18,899.47.  The board questioned the large bill on the repair of the Case 621 Loader from Titan.  Kennedy made a motion to pay the bills, seconded by Young.  Motion carried. 

 

7. Review Building Permits: Dave Fisher, Susan Fecarotta

8. Fire Number Applications: Melvin Miller (Christ Borntreger)

 

9.  Transportation Committee:  Daniel Arnold was absent.  The committee reported that Leum Rd project will be hydro-seeded soon to establish vegetation erosion control and Green Hollow Rd project will start soon.

 

10. Open Bids for Diesel Fuel: Two bids were received, but the board had questions about the bids. Young moved to table the decision until next month and have the interested bidders attend the Sept. meeting, seconded by Kennedy.  Motion carried. 

 

11. Open Bids for LP Gas:  This bid process was also tabled until Sept by John with Linda seconded.

 

12.  Town Hall Break-In July 13: The VC District Attorney has the damage figures and is working on the case.

13. Review Appleman/Butt Fence Viewing: The Young & Kennedy has viewed the completed fence on July 29th.  The situation has been resolved.

 

14.  MVC/Ho-Chunk Request for Funds:  Supervisor Kennedy has submitted a letter for a request of funds from the VC Bd Finance Committee to reimburse the town for loss taxes ($42,000) from the MVC land and a new fire truck ($100,000) that the LaF Fire Dept. is buying in 2012.

 

15. Patrolmen’s Report:  Patrolman Hysel stated that Leum Rd project came in under budget, the Case 621 Loader is repaired and patching has been completed on several roads.  They have continued to apply screenings to the roads on hot days where the oil oozing out.

 

16. Public Input:  none

 

17. Board Comments:  none

 

18. Future Meeting Dates:

 

            September 20 – Transportation Committee Meeting, 6:00 PM

      September 20 -- Monthly Board Meeting, 7:00 PM

 

19. Adjourn:  Kennedy moved to adjourn, seconded by Young.  Meeting adjourned.
