July 28, 2009

1. Call to Order: Chair Paul Bader called the monthly board meeting to order at 7:00 PM with Supervisors Daniel Arnold and John Young, Treasurer Jan Parker, and Clerk Ole Yttri present. A total of 10 people were in attendance.

2. Pledge of Allegiance: The Board led the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance.

3. Proof of Posting: Clerk Yttri gave proof of proper posting of meeting and agenda, (two newspapers, at the four posting places, on the Town website and through email for those citizens who have signed up for email notification).

4. Adoption of Agenda: Arnold moved to adopt the agenda, seconded by Young. Motion carried.

5. Minutes of Previous Meetings: Clerk Yttri presented the minutes of the June 16, 2009 meeting with the revision to item 19. reconvened to ‘Open Session’ by Arnold, seconded by Young. Bader moved to adopt the minutes, seconded by Arnold. Motion carried.

6. Review and Payment of Bills: The current checkbook balance is $48,779.21 and the monthly bills total is $9,495.75. Bills for Siverhaus Trucking, $2,873.00, (NRCS work on Wemmer Hollow) and La Farge Fire Department $1,000.00, (fire call reimbursement) were added for payment. Arnold made a motion to pay the bills, seconded by Young. Motion carried.

7. Review Building Permits: none

8. Fire Number Applications: Ryan Lewicke and Keith Knight

9. Comprehensive Planning Committee Update: The committee has scheduled a public hearing August 17 at 6:30 PM to go over 4 elements of the plan.

10. Transportation Committee Update: Arnold has been working on this element.

11. Town Hall Repairs & Equip. Replacement: Supervisor Arnold has priced a replacement dehumidifier at Rockweiler’s Appliance in Viroqua for $269.95 and will check on any rebates for this unit from Vernon Electric Co-op. Bader moved to purchase the unit, seconded by Young. Motion carried.

12. Patrolmen’s Report: Patrolman Hysel reported that they have mowed many of the roadsides, brushing continues on several areas, and 22 tons of cold mix has been used for patching on many roads.

13. Public Input: Nick Duell requested to recycle the used culverts that the Town has collected. Chairman Bader turned down his offer.

14. Board Comments: Bader updated the Board on 2 bridge inspections. River Rd bridge has not decreased below 50% usable value and Husker Hollow is in good shape. Bader reported that the tipping fees at the Vernon County Solid Waste have doubled with the new July 1 State Budget. Yttri, Vernon County Solid Waste Committee member, informed the Board that the Solid Waste Dept. would absorb the fee increase this year. The Board will need to adjust the 2010 budget to reflect the change.

August 18 - Monthly Board Meeting, 7:00 PM
